A keloid scar is a thick raised scar and usually larger than the original wound. When the skin is injured, scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect. When there is extra growth of scar tissue, it will form a smooth, hard growths called keloids. They are commonly found on the chest wall, shoulders, earlobes, and cheeks.
